Best Way to Learn Ignition for Small Projects

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Ignition and just getting started. I want to build some small automation projects at home/work, but I’m not sure the best way to learn Ignition quickly and effectively.

Should I start with Vision, Perspective, or both?

Are there any tutorials, courses, or sample projects you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help!

For the OP, you're giving off strong bot signals, but have just enough of an air of legitimacy I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in case there's a real human under there.

For the community, from the backend this user seems legitimate or at least a much higher effort bot. There are also some negative patterns, but no actual spam (so far) so I'm allowing the account to continue to exist - but feel free to engage (or not) with this thread under that advisement.

Maker edition is free for home use, but is perspective only.

Inductive University

I learn best by example, so go to induction resources and import a vision or perspective project and deconstruct it. Also begin watching the Ignition University videos. In regards to Vision or Perspective, depends on your needs and path forward. If you’re interested in traditional industrial HMI control, then likely vision. If you’re interested in mobile applications, then Perspective. Alot of gray area in between. For me, Perspective has a higher learning curve than Vision, as I'm a traditional controls engineer. Those with web or CS experience might find Perspective more intuitive.
