The title says it all, but here’s a screenshot:
Basically, if you apply styles directly from the properties, it works (e.g. fontStyle on the screenshot), but if you use style classes it won’t do anything.
You are right, it looks like it also doesn’t work for footgroups or any of the other style objects in the property editor except at the base level of the table properties. I’ve written up a ticket to handle this issue. Thanks for catching that!

This issue was fixed in the 8.0.3 Nightly build that was uploaded today (7/12)
