[BUG-8722] Power Chart issue with PopUps and Perspective Workstation

Hi Everyone,

13/Nov/2023: See "UPDATE" below

Ignition: 8.1.25 8.1.33
Session Client: Perspective Workstation: 1.1.25 1.1.33

Issue: Perspective Power Chart not displaying Chart (only legend and top bar icons), all other session via Edge, FireFox and Chromium renders the chart just fine.

Other things I have tried:

  • If I press the full screen icon on the power chart it goes full screen but only shows a white box.
  • Launched Edge on the same machine and it worked correctly using the same 4k monitor
  • Launched a Firefox session to the same project from a different machine (with 1080p resolution) and it worked as expected
  • Launched a Perspective Workstation session to the same project from a different machine (with 1080p resolution) and the chart did not display (only legend and top bar icons)

Any idea's?

Here is the view working on FireFox:

Here is the same view not working when viewed via Perspective Workstation:

UPDATE:

  • Upgraded to Ignition platform 8.1.33, perspective module 2.1.33, perspective workstation 1.1.33 and the issue remained.
  • Had a call with iControls and they where able to replicate the issue. Seems for this bug to occur you need to have the PowerChart showing on a PopUp in Perspective Workstation. They will escalate this issue to IA.

One of my sites discovered this issue recently, so I reached out to support for an update. They confirmed it's being worked on, but hasn't been resolved as of 8.1.42.

Thankfully, they offered a few workarounds:

  • Try wrapping the powerchart in a flex container and/or changing its direction
    • In my case, my powerchart was in a tab container. Wrapping it in a flex container fixed it (both row and column worked)
  • Place the Power Chart under only 1 Flex container
    • Wasn't applicable to my situation, so couldn't test this
  • Define a height for the popup instead of using auto height
    • This also worked for me

To follow up on this: We are working on a pretty big update to workstation which includes updates to the underlying chromium version which should solve this problem. This issue is ear-marked for testing against the latest set of changes, but all information points to this being resolved once that update is complete.

I don't have an ETA because this is a pretty large effort with a lot of moving pieces, but we will update this thread once its resolved.
