When using designer, the “right-click” for context menus is from my MacBook Pro trackpad is not recognized, thus requiring a mouse for productive work sessions. Right-clicks work as expected in all other applications.
I do use a mouse most of time, but don’t always have one with me and this has left me scrambling a few times the last couple of weeks.
Sorry to hear that. In order to help diagnose this issue, can you please provide more info around what specific hardware and OS you’re using, your trackpad settings, and an example of a specific context menu your unable to access?
Thanks for your quick response! Screenshots are below. As far as what context menu isn’t working - literally right-click accessible menus inside of the Designer application, including script window, perspective, tags
Update - It does work if trackpad setting for Secondary click is set to “Click in bottom right corner”. Never had an issue w/ it before (in 15+ years haha), but will work for now.
Same here since… but I finally use ctrl+clic for that now without any issue. Just another way to use the trackpad.
More annoying is the copy-past not working on the project panel.
I've found specifically using the secondary click gesture with just tap doesn't work on anything in the designer(tags, views, properties), you specifically have to use two fingers and click.
Do context menus work as expected in other swing applications, such as Kindling?
I'm curious.
With a quickly whipped up sample application I can't see any difference, Swing event wise, between two finger taps, two finger clicks, and right clicks from a mouse:
Two finger taps seem to work just fine in kindling for me, I haven't seen a difference between 8.1 and 8.3 designers. Im also on macOS 26.3 with basically the similar specs as above, not sure if that makes any difference.
