[Bug report] Pipe draw tool in perspective

After using the ‘Pipe Draw Tool’ in perspective and switching back to the normal ‘Component selector tool’ it becomes impossible to select the components on the View. When I select a component through the Project Browser, it becomes “highlighted” but it stays unmovable.

This problem does not seem to occur when switching from the ‘Pipe Move Tool’. But the only fix I currently have is restarting the designer…

It’s been a bug for a while unfortunately. You don’t need to restart designer, just fully close that view and reopen it and it resets it. The bug stems from it gets stuck in the piping editor mode even after you’ve switched back to components. You can tell as there’s still the pipe editor open when it occurs.

I have noticed that this bug is more prevalent in the latest Ignition release. Previously I would have this issue maybe 10% of the time, but now it’s like 100% of the time. You would think that the team would fix such irritating and obvious issues instead of letting them fester for so long. But I’m guessing the programming team is too busy fixing all their other hundreds of other issues in the queue. Ignition is so full of bugs it should be freeware

It doesn't look like the piping tool is the priority, which is an unfortunate.

I have found (accidentally) that if you click on the Pipes dropdown and then Control Click the root, the just click on the root, this will switch it back to the normal component selector. Discovering this accidentally has been beneficial, but hoping this can be fixed for less headache.

Just seeing this now… I can’t promise a timeframe for release, but piping improvements are in active development. Namely a significant refactor in order to improve P&ID Designer performance and a large number of papercut bindings bugs. I gave this particular issue a quick test and it appears to be solved by the refactor.
