Not sure if I’m missing something, but it seems like the EAM controller can only collect backups from agents, and not itself. Do I need to take manual backups of the controller?
No, for a couple of reasons.
One, since the controller is already going to be the destination for other gateway’s collected backups, you can just turn on scheduled backups and, if desired, set them to the same archive location as the agent backups.
But the secondary reason(s) are also that collecting controller backups via and into the same storage mechanism could lead to a pretty disastrous result - accidentally restoring a controller backup on an agent (leading to two active controllers, not ideal) or worse, restoring an agent backup over the controller.
That all makes sense. Completely forgot about scheduled backups too, so that solves my core problem. Thanks!
