Can't start gateway

To upgrade… I used the Gateway Control Utility.

Here is a copy of the Ignition.conf file.

Thats what I thought. You’re going to need to run the installer again in order to upgrade fully - in 7.0.6 there was some logic in there that changed the contents of the .conf file and moved some *.jar files around that upgrading through the GCU can’t accomplish.

will I loose my project?

No you won’t - running the installer again upgrades without affecting your project. You can (and should!) make a gateway-backup first for peace-of-mind.

ok… another dumb question… how can I make a backup of the gateway if it will not start?? The only way I have made backups before is from the backup utility from inside the gateway web page.

When the Gateway will not start you can simply make a backup of the contexts/main/db folder - this is where all of your projects and settings are stored.

I have this same issue after trying to install the modbus driver. cant seem to get it going again. webserver starts but the gateway wont start.

A bit late, but considering I just saw this problem again, and this thread is like #3 result on google when you search for the error, I thought I should post an answer. The error you're running into, as reported by that log, is:

This seems to be caused very rarely by a bad shutdown. To resolve, shutdown the faulted server, and simply delete that [tt]settings.lck[/tt] file at the path indicated. Restart the service, and you should be good.
