Certification change: feedback

Just got this email--thanks for listening to your users, as usual, Inductive Automation team:

An Important Update About Ignition Certification Tests

For years, Inductive Automation has proudly offered the Ignition certification test to our community, and as a result, there are now thousands of Ignition-certified engineers worldwide.

Late last year, Inductive Automation announced that an Ignition certification could be earned by completing our Ignition Core Training class. While our initial plan was to stop offering the certification test, the feedback we received from the community overwhelmingly supported keeping the certification test as an option. Moving forward, we will continue to offer both the Core Training course and the Core Certification tests as paths to achieving Ignition certification.

While the certification test has been provided as a free service for years, our community of Ignition users has grown substantially, and as a result, offering free tests has become unsustainable for our company. To continue growing the number of Ignition-certified engineers, Inductive Automation will be charging a fee for the certification test.

Beginning immediately, new Core Certification tests will cost $350 each, and new Gold Certification tests will cost $500 each. The purchase of new certification tests (Core and Gold) will also include one free resubmission. Both the initial test submission and the free resubmission must be completed within six months of the original purchase date to be valid, and no extensions beyond that time will be granted. Tests cannot be taken until payment is processed.

To purchase a certification test, you can call our sales team at 1-800-266-7798, or send an email to accountservices@inductiveautomation.com. Members of Inductive Automation’s Integrator Program can apply their standard discount to test purchases.

For the remainder of their current support contracts, PriorityCare customers can continue to receive free tests, and TotalCare customers can continue to receive test discounts. However, free and discounted tests will not be included in newly purchased or renewed support contracts.

With these changes, we will be able to continue offering both training classes and tests as paths toward Ignition certification. We thank you for your support, and we look forward to continuing to help more and more people learn to use Ignition to elevate their automated processes.

If you have any questions about these changes, please email us at training@inductiveautomation.com, or call your sales representative.
