Does anybody have any insight into how much data a Vision client would use on a time-basis? We have a VPN that is often not always open and has a data limit. What sort of data transfer to/from the client/gateway are we talking? It'll be a fairly small project. Is there some way to track this?
A Vision Client will make a tag poll every ¼ second by default. (Adjustable.) How big the responses are will drive your bandwidth value, and depend on how many live tags are displayed.
And there will be requests for every polling binding.
In other words, extremely variable, and not usually small.
Not in Ignition, to my knowledge. But most OS's will be able to do this.
(FWIW, compared to Perspective, Vision will typically be more bandwidth intensive on startup, particularly on very first startup where it has to cache its jars, but then be less traffic, as Vision doesn't have to transfer UI bindings.)
