Connecting Energy Meters to Ignition

Hi,
We are installing energy meters in our plant and want to connect all of them to Ignition. The meters support Modbus RS485, and we are also considering wireless options.

What is the best and most reliable way to connect all meters to Ignition?
(Wired RS485 gateways or wireless solutions)

I’ve used an MSA fieldbus gateway for Modbus 485.

I would go wired for reliability.

I use the Moxa MB3170, easy to config and reliable.

Yes either the MB3170 or the MB3270 (if you want more 2 strings) or a Schneider Panel Servers (bit more expensive but some clients prefer Schneider). Do note that all these examples are Transparent Gateways (try and look for them) as non-transparent gateways are a pain!

When configuring these in Modbus they are just configured as ModbusTCP devices and then you use the different Modbus Addresses to access each meter (of course ensure the addresses are unique on each string).
