I have a simple question. IGNITION seems to be all about connecting to PLC’s. But is it also possible to connect IGNITION to sensors (temperature, pressure,…) in installations that don’t have PLC? For example a park of fermentation-tanks in a brewery,
The answer isn’t nearly as simple.
The biggest question is: are the sensors OPC capable? MODBUS TCP, or multiple MODBUS RTU to a gateway would be a common choice, or OPC server software may be available for it.
Most applications use a PLC, even if it’s just used as a “concentrator”. A one-stop shop for the data.
Advice I try to give to everyone is that the more details you can provide (like what sensors are in use), the better our answers will usually become.
