Connection to google smtp email server wont work

I am trying to setup a simple SMTP profile. I have tried a few times before and I have never got this to work. I created a new google account and want to use that as my way of sending out emails, alarms, etc.

I then went to do the test email and got the following:

The from section included the new google email address I created

The to section included my work email address

I looked up the google smtp hostname and port and put that in here.

What am I missing? Do I have to do anything within the google account? Do I have to open up any ports?

Not sure if you are using one or not, but make sure you are using an App Specific Password.

That did it! Once you create the App Specific Password and use that in the SMTP profile everything worked...thanks!
