Database can't be found, but others from same server can

On one of my Ignition platforms, it is connected to an external SQL server, with about 10 or so database connections, all from the same server, but for some reason, starting yesterday morning, 7/7/2026, at about 4am, Ignition stopped writing to the database, saying it could not be found. Ever since, it has just stowed them. I have tried remaking the connections, restarting all servers involved, clearing out the stowage, and restarting, stopping my historian, and restarting, to see if it was caught up on those.

Anyone else see something like this before, can point me in a direction? Never seen this happen before. Recently upgraded from 8.1 to 8.3 for this Ignition site, if that would do anything for this.

Log error:

com.inductiveautomation.ignition.gateway.storeforward.exceptions.DataStorageException: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: SQL Server Network Interfaces: Error Locating Server/Instance Specified [xFFFFFFFF].

I haven't seen that particular error before, no. You should open a support ticket.

Might just have to do that. Thank you for the quick reply bud.

This has been found to be on us. We have a few SQL Express servers on devices in the plant that pull supplemental data. And we use trigger inserts to pull that supplemental data, and due to one of those servers being off without us realizing, the insert trigger was failing, causing Ignition to see it as a failed write, and cause to stow.
