Database password change broke connection

Ok do you have SSMS installed? I would try and login in that way to verify the credentials. Or, you can just keep changing the credentials within Ignition until you get it right.

Or change both ends to the same new password. :man_shrugging:

there is ssms installed, but I'm not sure how to login. Is there different credentials I would need for that?

How would I do this?

I don't understand, when you open SSMS it should prompt for login. Are you not seeing a prompt?

If you also don't have the credentials for SSMS you probably need some help from your IT department or somebody at your company who does.

via SSMS, the management software for your database.

Log into SQL Server (via SSMS or other IDE) with an account that has user management privileges. Then you can change the password on the DB side for the account that Ignition is using, to match the new password you already put into Ignition.

We got our Ignition from another company who set it up for us. Would it be advisable to call them, let them know about the password change, as I'm assuming they have user management privileges?

Perhaps, but presumably you have the SQL Server.

Ya, the server is located on site, but I'm not sure how to connect to it via SMMS.

Did you try to open SSMS?

Ya, when I open it the only server name that pops up is my own computer, and I can log into that, but I don't think that is the correct option.

Do you have IT people available that can do this, or at least supervise? An unsupervised neophyte connecting to a production database with superuser privileges is a potential disaster.

We don't have IT people, besides the other company who set it up. We have never accessed the server, as only production is run through it, and we have never looked at production history. So, I am thinking of potentially calling this other company, but it's generally not a big deal if we are missing a bit of data, as long as production is running.

Ok, yeah. You probably need the DB admin password from them anyways.
