Designer 1.3.4 installation fails

Windows 11 OS: I updated Ignition 8.3 to the latest version 8.3.4 and now I am being prompted to update the designer but cannot seem to get that to succeed. It offers to shut down Open JDK Platform Binary, but fails, and when I opt to ignore this error it moves a little further and tell me it cannot delete the designer launcher from the roaming appdata folder. I tried running the installer as Admin, tried manually deleting the launcher in the appdata folder and I get denied because it is thought to be open in the Open JDK Platform Binary.

I also tried stopping the Ignition service first, but this didn’t help. For now, I will continue to use the older designer 1.3.0 which seems fine. I suppose I really must figure what else might be using the Open JDK Platform which prevents it from being stopped.

Thanks,

There's some running orphaned Java process. Stop it manually from task manager and reattempt the install.

Newer versions of the launchers tend to add security and usability features and maintain backwards compatibility. We strive not to break existing launchers, so being on an older version temporarily isn't causing you any harm. Note that the launcher is different from the actual designer - once you're actually in the designer, you're guaranteed to be on exactly the correct version for the gateway you're connected to.
