Recently I'm updated my gateway to the latest version and that went smoothly, but now my Designer Launcher is giving me a popup that I have an available upgrade from 8.1.25 to 8.1.39. I follow the link provided and proceed with the install, but I keep getting an error stating "An error occurred while trying to replace the existing filed DeleteFile failed: code 32. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
Am I missing something here?
Did you close the running designerlauncher after downloading the new one?

Try manually deleting it. If you can't, then you may want to try a logoff / logon and run the installer again.

Manually deleting the old launcher?
Windows thinks something is still using the designerlauncher.exe
file. You have to figure that out (task manager, perhaps) and stop it, so that it can be replaced.
(Multiple users on the same machine?)
Or maybe admin privileges are required, if it was originally installed with admin privileges.

I had logged everyone else out and couldn't find it anywhere in task manager so I just reset the PC and it installed. Just wasnt making sense. Thanks
I had this same issue a month or so ago. In task manager, I saw a java process still running even though they had closed out of all the windows. we just killed the process and the upgrade was able to proceed.

when i killed my java process i took my gateway down too...
I know that now. Lol. Thankfully I've got a redundant gateway and all was good.
Oooo! That means you are trying to run a designer right on the gateway machine. Baaaaaaaad idea. (Other than trivial training situations.)

Someone else's sin. Ignition was deployed prior to me being hired.
