Hi All,
I installed the new Ignition 8.3 on a server to test it. I also updated my designer launcher to 1.3. I have uninstalled it a couple of times and also tried to delete the cache folders. The Designer launcher works for other projects in gateways that are 8.1.45 it only errors out with v8.3.
Thanks,
Danny
The Designer Launcher is irrelevant after the point where you've got a splash screen (the gear logo + Starting
visible in your screenshot) - it's no longer involved.
A NoClassDefFoundError
almost always indicates an incomplete install or uninstall. What gateway are you trying to launch against, and how did you upgrade it to 8.3?
It might be an IT issue, ThreatLocker temporarily stopped the installation of the Designer Launcher and Ignition in my machine. The one coworker whose laptop is not secured by ThreatLocker is not experiencing any issues. I can’t even launch my localhost 8.3 gateway, it looks like the installations are incomplete or corrupted, yeah.
Interesting Error. I was able to run the installation again, no IT restrictions this time:
-
Clean Start: uninstalled everything and deleted all ignition files.
-
Installed Ignition 8.3
-
Got an Error at the end of the installation, and local gateway was dead:
-
Clicked on the IgnitionGateway application here:
C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition
-
Now http://localhost:8088/ was up, finalized the gateway setup and installed Designer Launcher 1.3.
-
Other Ignition 8.3 gateways from other servers work now.
