Device Overload

I am trying to manage my device overload. I am currently at 45% and I have two questions.

  1. I tried putting all of my tags in a leased group and setting the rate to 60000. I do not have a session open but I am still at 45%. What would be causing the 45% if I have no session open and all of my tags are leased.

  2. I would like to identify all of the tags that are not used at all. I tried getting the latest version and using View Tag Diagnostics but that would require me to hit every single tag and if they are referred to indirectly it does not pick them up. Is there an easier way?

Not enough information. Please provide:

  • PLC Brand/mode/firmware

  • Ignition Driver or OPC connection?

  • Are leased tags mixed into the same PLC tags or address ranges as direct subscriptions? (They might have been optimized together, such that omitting the leased tags doesn't improve matters.)

  • How many total subscribed items (shown on driver diagnostic page)?

Rockwell CompactLogix L33ER
OPC UA
No, currently every tag is part of a leased group

Looks like most of your tags are still in a 1000ms group.

The only group that is 1000s is the default group and there are no tags in it. I used the Tag Report Tool and there no tags in default and every other group is leased at 60000.

What are the slow and fast rates of the leased group?

Fast 1000
Slow 60000

Ok, well the obvious conclusion is that many of your tags are still being leased by something and running at the fast rate.

Call support and let them take a look around.

I will. Do you have any suggestions on the second question?

It might be something the Tag Report Tool can help with, but I'm not familiar enough with it to be sure.

The new tag reference tracking should work, but you will have to exercise the system to cover everything.
