I understand that the DNP3 driver is coming soon. Can anyone confirm that this is true, and if so, when?
Also, will we be able to do both IP and Serial?
It’s going to be released with Ignition 7.8, around the same time as the ICC in September. It’s IP only.
Do you think I could use DNP3 over IP to a multi-port serial terminal server? Being able to communicate to serial devices is a make or break requirement for an electric SCADA customer that I’m trying to convince to switch to Ignition.
I think you’d have to try it and make sure it works before you recommended it. One thing our implementation does not implement, being IP only, is data link layer confirmations (as recommended by the specification). I don’t know what the implications of that might be.
