Greetings,
Failover from my master gateway to the backup makes my client disconnect and browse until the master is active again. This is due to the backup gateway being unavailable.
By design in our environment the backup gateway is not reachable by IP address, only by hostname.
I need my vision client to use hostname for the backup gateway, not IP.
I cant find anything in the manual specifying anything else than IP being used for the backup.
Thanks
The two servers need to declare their publicly reachable URL in the gateway settings.
If the backup server cannot be reached by IP address because it is in a separate network, you have screwed up, separate from the naming issue. See these topics:

Thank you Phil, for taking the time to respond.
The gateway redundancy is working as intended. The clients with network access to reach the backup gateway over IP are functioning correctly.
However, I need the clients that cannot reach the backup gateway over IP to use the hostname/alias address.
As he mentioned, there is a configuration setting for this: Web Server Settings | Ignition User Manual
Unlike most settings this can be configured independently on master and backup.

Thanks to the both of you, I failed to understand the message.
It is was fixed by setting: "resolve client hostnames" and manually setting public http(s) address and port(s) as per the manual.
