Do users have to pay for new module versions?

I was asked this question and didn’t know the answer.

If a customer is still using Ignition 7.6.6 and buys an old version of a 3rd party module, do they still have a valid license for that module when they upgrade Ignition and that module to newer 7.7 versions?

That’s really up to the vendor/creator of the 3rd party module.

From the handful I’ve seen so far though, they continue to be valid licenses.

I think this is a really good question that needs to be thought about and addressed in more detail though.

For our modules, we only charge if we increment the major build number. This only happens if there is a substantial modification or addition of functionality. We do not charge an upgrade cost for incremental upgrades of Ignition.
