Hi there, very new to robotics but I have a “for fun” project idea to use ignition to create a connection to a UR robot, display the robot coordinate frame as you’d see it on the teach pendant, and provide two virtual joysticks to make coordinated moves on the robot and see it jog, probably set the speed to a max of 25% or something so its easy to use. One thought is that even though its not a production robot, provides an easier way to teach points since the UR TP is kinda garbage, the touch screen faults out a lot. Second just a fun way to learn robotics.
Purely a passion project, I have some downtime at work and am part of a production maintenance/automation team. I will need to figure out the robot connection and 3D visualization stuff on my own and am fairly confident in that part with the resources we have available, but the actual joysticks part of it seems like it will be fairly difficult.
Anyone have thoughts or have done this before for like a gaming style virtual joystick?
