Hello,
I work for a rural utility, and we’re about to start implementing ignition into our remote Water/Wastewater sites. We have a wastewater plant that currently has no internet access. The plan is to install internet service sometime this year, but it could be as late as early next year. However, the money is there currently to move over to ignition so we want to find a solution that we can scale up to our larger network, but will also work in the current situation.
The idea is to get a Ignition Edge Panel license and use it as a local HMI for the time being. However, we need some sort of data storage capability so the operators can get some historical trending. I understand that the Edge license comes with a 35 day buffer where it will store data locally, but is there any way to extend that? My main question is whether or not I can simply have a large hard drive that we back up the data to periodically, or if it’s more involved than that.
Forgive me if it’s a simple question, I’m still relatively new to Ignition but am looking forward to working with it more in the near future.
Sincerely,
Isaac
