I just saw an ABB electronic circular chart and thought that was a great idea. You should make circular charts to replace chart recorders where you can set a set time limit per chart, say 12 hours, and at the end of that 12 hour span it will either automatically save the chart or print the chart out and then start a new circular chart. That would save a lot of cost in chart paper and pen ink.
yeah I have had a few customers ask about displaying data in a circular chart format. chart recorders are still used alot in oil and gas and the old school likes them for some reason.
one reason: familiarity.
Circular charts are circular for one reason: the mechanics of a pen-and-paper chart are much easier in a circle. Other than clinging to the familiar, they make little sense to implement in a computer.
