ENGEL Molding Machines

I am now having the same issue. The official Engel documentation says that you have to navigate to the “Production management system” page to trust the certificate. This page is only available on CC300 software versions 4.82 and newer. Has anyone found out how to trust the certificates on software versions older than that?

Are you sure it's exactly the same issue? Can you provide a full stack trace of the error?

It's possible that older versions of that software simply trusted all certificates, and it's actually on the Ignition side that you need to mark the Engel server certificate as trusted.

Yes, it should be the same issue. From UA Expert and Kepware it gives me the same error. However from the Ignition gateway setup it does not give the error. Using the Ignition Quick Client I can browse the machine and see the default tags available on the machine. The Engel documentation shows how to expose additional tags to the Euromap 77 connection using UA expert, but I cannot do that until I am able to trust the UA expert connection certificate (even with using the username and password login type of authentication instead of authentication via certs). The newest machine software version I have is 4.80, but I have all the way back to 4.72.

If anyone knows of a way of adding the additional parameters using the Ignition OPC client, I’d much prefer to go that route.

I would be interested in this documentation if you can still share it.

For Establishing a connection to the Engel OPCUA server you need to use User credential authentication pre SW:v4.8.2 after SW:v4.8.2 you can use certificates (this was a sneaky detail that was hidden in the fine print).

To achieve a successful connection you NEED to create a new user on each machine to be connected. This could be a “OPC USER” / ”OPC” / “UA Connection”

why do you you NEED to create a new user?

This is the only way I have found to get the machine to generate a “Local User Key”. this can be found in the Users “user Details” on the machine. If you transfer users from machine to machine it does not seem to copy the “Local User Key”

Then on UA Expert you need to use this Local User Key as the “UserName” on the Authentication with the associated “password” that your created for that user. this should allow you to connect after accepting the “press” certificate.

Good morning,

We have just replaced 5 Haitian machines with new Engel units featuring the KEBA CC300 controller and the Euromap 77 license.

Up until now, we have been using Euromap 63 with KraussMaffei machines, and we want to extend our Ignition integration to include these new Engels.

Could you please share documentation or information regarding where to connect the network cable, how to assign IP addresses, or any other relevant details? We haven't found anything of value in the technical documentation
