When I export my tags to make modifications and then import them back in I am losing my folder structure. That is, all of my tags show up in the root. The folders themselves are still there but just empty. I must be doing something incorrectly. Could this have anything to do with using OpenOffice.org Calc instead of using Excel?
Yes, it’s because open office messes up the UTF-8 marker, and includes it inside the quotes of the “Path” column header. For what it’s worth, I’m not sure excel would do much better. We’ve removed the marker and switched the default encoding to UTF-8 (I thought this was done in 7.2.7, maybe it’s in 7.3), so it shouldn’t be a problem in the future.
Try this:
Open your processed CSV in notepad or another simple text editor. Make sure the first item in the list of columns is simply “Path”. Then try to import again.
