FactoryTalk Linx Gateway not releasing OPC subscriptions after tag changes

Hi everyone,

I’m connected to a L83EP using FactoryTalk Linx Gateway as the OPC UA server for Ignition.

The issue I’m seeing is that whenever I change a tag group rate, or switch tags from OPC to Memory in Ignition, the PLC’s communication load doesn’t change. Even if I disable the gateway, the load on the processor stays the same for 6–7 minutes before it finally drops.

From what I understand, when Ignition subscribes to a tag through FT Linx, the gateway builds a subscription in the PLC at the requested rate. But if I change the tag group rate or switch a tag to memory in Ignition, Ignition does update its subscription, yet FT Linx (and the PLC) don’t seem to reflect the change.

Is there a way to change this without having to disable/re-enable the gateway every time I make changes?

Thanks!

You probably should open a tech support ticket with Rockwell for this.
