FactoryTalk SE ViewPoint IP Camera Stream

I have a client with FactoryTalk SE and we use an IP camera stream embedded in the project using the web browser component.

We also have a few screens available on a tablet via ViewPoint but of course the IP camera stream doesn't work with the embedded web browser component.

From my understanding ViewPoint converts the SE screen to html for viewing in a web browser. That part is working fine, just wondering if anyone has gotten an IP camera stream working directly in the ViewPoint web page. In the past we've tried but ultimately ended up having to use a separate tab in the browser for the stream.

It's not one of those camera streams that requires Internet Explorer is it?

Internet Explorer? No. These are modern IP camera streams and we're able to get them configured however we would like. As of now they are mjpg streams.

MJPEG is a bandwidth heavy stream format, but if you can get them to do x264/h.264 and if the Ignition browser component can handle it, it will be much more efficient.

We can get whatever format we would like. I believe we had x264/h.264 before.

But, this is for FactoryTalk ViewPoint, not Ignition - why I posted in the general discussion rather than the Ignition section

Ahh, I was under the impression you were converting from SE to Ignition and were trying to replicate functionality that existed in SE. So I have no idea there what SE is capable of.

If only.

We can get SE to do it in the client but want the ViewPoint webpage to display it as well without using a new tab.

I haven't used ViewPoint in many years, but I know back in the day it couldn't even show the alarm popups on the ME version (not sure about SE), but it was always pretty limited.

I'm pretty sure you will have to make the camera directly accessible over the network from the ViewPoint clients. If possible at all.

Yes, we can already do that via the stream url in a web browser on the ViewPoint client
