Not sure how often others deal with it, or if it even would make a difference but.
How about an option during the installation routine that asks if it is a Restore of a gateway?
Then you could File-Open and browse to a gateway backup file .gwbk and the installer could then see the modules required, all the config info, and use that as the basis of the installation?
Takes a lot of the legwork out of restoring/duplicating a gateway config.

This is a great idea and would be easy to do. I created a ticket for this. I can see how this would be really annoying if this is your workflow. and 8 (and counting) people agree with you.

This would save the extra steps of setting up a temporary admin password, ports, etc to end up just restoring and overwriting it.

It would also be nice to have the ability to perform a clean install directly from the installer. Currently, you have to either delete and reinstall Ignition or restore a clean backup.
