Are you sure all of the modules you are using are listed in the license? That is, is your license complete?
Along with Phil's suggestion, check the module page of the gateway in question while you're at it. There's likely going to be a trial banner and it'll show you which modules are included.
Hmmm. Try upgrading to 8.3.6 from your current 8.3.3.
Did the views get saved while in trial mode at dinner point and never modified after getting a license? I'm wondering if there's some sort of persistence of the overlays that loads prior to live data causing it. I'd try opening and saving a few to see if it fixes it.
Alright thank you for the suggestion, I have updated the Ignition to 8.3.7
Bad news is, the flashing still appears after the update, which kinda worried me.
After reopening the Vision Client Application, it disappeared, so I'm not sure if the issue is considered fix? Hopefully it doesn't happen again
Hi everyone,
Is the upgrade procedure considered a definitive fix for this issue?
I am currently experiencing the same problem on two different plants.
Ignition version: 8.3.2 (b2025120210)
Vision: 12.3.2 (b2025120210) License status: Activated
However, at random times, I get logged out of the Vision Runtime with the message “Trial expired.”
Since we upgraded the license from 8.1 to 8.3, I have tried several times to refresh the current license, deactivate and reactivate it, but the problem still persists.
The application does not log me out when the internal trial period actually expires. Instead, it happens randomly after several hours of normal operation in the Vision Runtime.
Since these systems are running in redundancy, before upgrading and potentially impacting plant production, I would like to know whether upgrading is currently considered the only available solution, or if there are any other recommended fixes or workarounds.
If any additional information, logs, or diagnostic data would be helpful, I would be happy to provide them.
Thank you in advance for your time and support.
One of the first things anyone is going to have you do is upgrade to the latest version. There's been a lot of fixes since 8.3.2 (which is over 9 months old now). Since you have redundant systems, I'd upgrade them to the latest 8.3.8 as of right now since it won't impact production much (or not much more than you're experiencing now) and see if that helps. If not, then open a ticket and get support involved.
When upgrading, manually failover/switch to the backup, then upgrade the primary first. Once it's upgraded, if it's set to fail back to primary automatically, it will, and if not, fail it back, then you can upgrade the backup with any additional impact.
All the clients will need to relaunch to load the new client, but should be minimal impact.
As a side note, I think your issue is different from the OP's issue. I think they just had flashing of the trial expired on components when a screen loads (I've had that exact problem even on 8.1, and it's caused by designing and saving with an expired trial, so the initial state of the component is saved with the trial expired status until it gets a chance to update, so the fix is just opening those views/templates with an unexpired trial or activated license and re-saving them).
