Gateway backup error

I am trying to test upgrading from 7.9 to 8.1 but when I go to the gateway launch utility and try to run gateway backup I get the error “No response received from Gateway. Verify that the Gateway is running”.
Before I try the backup everthing is green and running but when I run the backup it goes red for a few seconds then returns to green.

Here is what I am seeing in the wrapper files

There is no graphical GCU for 8.x, it’s command-line only now.

Or am I misunderstanding and you’re just trying to take a backup and you’re still on 7.9?

I am trying to take a backup of 7.9 to do a restore on 8.1.

Hmm. Try getting a backup from the gateway webpage instead?

Otherwise call support and let them take a look.

edit: oh, and if you aren’t running the GCU as admin, try that as well. It requires admin privileges.

I tried that but it did not transfer my tags. Tried an export and import as well for the tags, which led me to the forums where i saw one that stated a gateway backup would resolve the issue.
I did try to run as admin with the same results.

The backup from the gateway page is the same thing, if that didn’t look complete to you then I’d let support look over your shoulder while you do this.

Sounds good, I will try that. Thanks

Make sure you are doing a gateway backup and not a project backup.
