Gateway connections, ping failed, how to diagnose further?

I get a lot of errors regarding gateway connections that go bad. (ping failed)
Our IT department never see any problem on their systems (rptg, server monitoring, switch monitoring, ...) regarding network errors.

So, how can I diagnose this further so I can assure IT that the problem is the network or the problem is something else.

Any help/insights?

A way to diagnose these errors further would be to inspect a Wireshark capture, here is a KBA on how to take one in case you are not familiar.
