but for me its a int

Nothing, it looks like the docs are wrong, though that shouldn't stop you from treating it as a boolean in a comparison.
hmm, seems i am being triggered twice so trying to find out the issue, I'll post update when i figure it out. not sure how i am getting the function triggered twice.
I've added a timestamp but the timestamp is same ! but i get two logs with same time. how do i debug this issue ?
