Gateway Network Tag Clarifications

Hi all,

I am in the process of working with the some tags in [System]Gateway/Gateway Network on a 8.1.32 system.

My question is, what's the difference between _0:0:'Gateway', _0:1:'Gateway' and _0:2:'Gateway'. I noticed that the _0:0: doesn't seem to have a value for Last Comm but the _0:1: and _0:2: ave values.

Any clarifications would be greatly appreciated.

That nomenclature indicates whether a gateway is independent, a redundant master, or a redundant backup. Docs reference:

  • Independent Gateways: 0:0
  • Redundant Master Gateway: 0:1
  • Redundant Backup Gateway: 0:2
  • "Virtual" route aliased to either the Master or Backup Gateways: 0:0

If you rename a gateway, remove a connection, or change the gateway redundancy, it might leave a stale tag/folder. E.g. connect an independent gateway (_0:0) then change it to be a redundant (_0:1/_0:2).

From an old testing environment (note the lack of tags in the bottom 3):

Awesome, I must have missed that in the Docs. That's what I had in mind but wanted clarification. Thank you for the response, much appreciated.
