Gateway re-start required

Update:

I have been running Ignition with my AB PLC to write data to an SQL database for about a year now.

Just recently I am having an issue. At some point during the day the PLC is showing a write alarm. This shows up when the transaction handshake (a value of 1) is not returned within 20 seconds. This continues to happen on subsequent attempts to write to the database. If I restart the Ignition Gateway the issues goes away for a period of time.

What could cause Ignition to require a periodic re-start.
