Gateway reported that it could not import project 8.1.0rc3

I have a project exported from Version: 8.1.0-rc2 (b2020092908) Linux and attempting to import to Version: 8.1.0-rc3 (b2020101217) tried Windows and Linux. I get Gateway reported that it could not import project.

Where do I go from here?

The easiest options:

  1. Create a new project with the desired name via the designer, then import the project export you have into that project.
  2. Manually unzip the project file into the projects directory on the gateway filesystem; it’s in the installation directory, at data/projects. The top level folder will be the name of the project, and there should be a project.json directly below that.

What's the actual underlying issue here though? I just got the same error
My project backup zip is 27MB

It's just that a file is too big for the default settings of Ignition's internal webserver, for some arbitrary reasons. Configuration of that limit is annoying (via the web.xml file, iirc) and it's rarely an issue, so we haven't really been that motivated to do anything about it.
