Getting a Designer version compatibility error

I am getting a compatibility error when trying to launch my designers. I was using it just fine and then I reset my laptop, when it booted back up i went to continue working as usual and got this error. Nothing has changed in the 2 minutes it took me to reset my pc. I cleared both ignition and java caches and even tried to redownload designer launcher.

Did you clear the client cache? Not sure if that’s what you meant by “Ignition” cache. Also, per the article, did you clear them for all users?

yeah i forgot to clear local host and that was the solve!

thanks!

For the next person or me in the future. The "server" was running an Ignition Edge 8.3.6 project. Each time I opened the perspective project in designer on my laptop this popup would bug me to upgrade designer from 8.3.2 to 8.3.6. After downloading and installing designer 8.3.6 the error shown in the original post appeared. Deleting the cache folder made things worse and when trying to open the project from designer it would fail to load all the modules and give up. Eventually, I used windows add/remove programs to uninstall designer, restart laptop, reinstalled designer 8.3.6. This resolved my issue and designer behaved as expected if you just performed a fresh install on a new windows pc.

Running into an issue like this after performing an upgrade the software has been bugging you to upgrade to was very ironic. The current diagnostics provided to the user when this occurs are lacking. Ideally it wouldn't have been an issue but if all else fails the diagnostics should be more helpful.

Thanks,
