We are looking to set up redundancy for our Ignition server. It appears to be easy to do but we will setup the master and backup on two different servers. When a failover occurs how do interfacing systems know how to switch to the new IP address?
Perspective and Vision sessions learn the backup hostname when they are launched and can switch over automatically.
New clients launched while a master is offline that don't already have this information will need to be manually targeted at the backup, e.g. with a secondary shortcut, bookmark, or just pointing a browser there etc...
I think Perspective Workstation will cache this information and is able to launch against the backup even if it wasn't already connected to the master.
External systems that interface with Ignition somehow either need to have their own fallback logic or you need to have some kind of load balancing setup in front of the Ignition Gateways.
