Has anybody ran into this issue using the horizontal menu navigation component. I have it in a docked view, and while in a session it seems like it disappears (as if display=False) whenever you open the submenu items. This causes all other components to get shifted to the left, overlaying the still visible parent menu.
However, when I'm in the designer, it doesn't function this way and maintains spacing as expected. While playing around with it, the weird nature stops when I change the menu components basis from auto --> fixed width. I haven't found this viable because there are menu title lengths that'd want to auto format to size.
From session POV:
From Designer POV:
Any chance you could provide the View resource which houses the Horizontal Menu (the actual view.json file), as well as a breakdown of the actual configuration for that Docked View (a screenshot of the Docked View configuration panel within the Designer)?
Edit: It looks like we have a ticket for this issue, but Iâd like to try to replicate and compare because the ticket has no screenshots - and so Iâm not 100% confident it is the issue youâre seeing.

There is an view called âNav Linkâ that contains both a horizontal menu with only one item, and a icon. This is fed into a flex repeater, and it seems to shrink within the instance of the repeater when the submenu is opened on the component. Same thing with the isolated horizontal menu that is in the main 'Headerâ view. Only acts like this while in a session, designer is fine.
In both views, the basis of the actual âMenuâ component needs to be switched from auto to some px width in order for it not to act like this.
Okay, we see whatâs going on. I would swear we had a ticket for this before, but Iâm unable to locate one.
Horizontal Menus receive special handling in Docked Views because of their submenus. As a side-effect of this special handling, the child (DOM) elements of the Horizontal Menu are sort of abstracted out and rendered in a way such that they are no longer within the Docked View (and - implicitly - the Horizontal Menu component) so that you donât have to scroll within the Docked View to see them. But this leaves the Horizontal Menu with no internal element which would take up space, so it reserves none within the flex container youâve placed it in. With the basis being set to âautoâ, everything else moves to fill the âemptyâ space.
As youâve already surmised, explicitly setting the basis to some value other than âautoâ will then reserve space for the Horizontal Menu at the top level, and youâll no longer see this behavior.
Weâre in the process of opening an internal ticket to leave at least some sort of element within the Horizontal Menu so that it retains its dimensions while rendering its submenu in a Docked View.
