How long does it usually take to have a Module showcase page approved?

Hi all,

Last week I finished the testing of my Ignition Beckhoff ADS module and wanted to start selling licenses for this and therefore added the Module showcase page for it ... It's however remaining "unapproved"... How long does this usually take for IA to approve? Or am I missing something that you folks are waiting for?

Chris

I'm not speaking as somebody involved in approving or handling this process; I think it's probably sales engineering that is responsible.

That said, it doesn't seem that your website is meeting all the requirements:

What do I need to include on my website about my module?

In order to qualify for a listing on the Module Showcase, your website must include the following:

  • Module Name
  • Description of module
  • Version(s) compatibility with Ignition platform
  • Cost
  • Download link for users to try out your module
  • A way for users to purchase the module from your company (if applicable) **What do I need to include on my website about my module?

from Inductive Automation: moduleshowcase_faq

You need to have a link to download the module and an upfront price, no "email me" stuff.

Hmmm ... Ok ... well I thought I had the price and stuff such as the version compatability on the module-showcase page. By adding it to the product page at least I can put the € price and not the odd USD price

I'll try and setup something where people can download directly. My only issue is that I wanted people to accept a no warranty disclaimer when using the trial. How do others solve this?

Was just sort of expecting some sort of feedback like "you're not meeting the requirements" ... but thanks for the info.

I think modules can include a EULA somehow? I’ll have to look.

I’ll ask somebody in sales engineering tomorrow about the process. It was a busy week and a holiday on Friday into a long weekend, wouldn’t be surprised if they just haven’t had time.

Thanks  That would help a lot

Hi all,

I have my license texts created by a lawyer, but these only handle the sales ... there obviously I'm not excluding liability and warranty. But for a beta-test I would definitely want to exclude this. So how do others handle this? @pturmel ? Do you have one EULA that handles both cases (licensed and trial?) or do you include the trial EULA and add a commercial version when selling?

Chris

You can supply an HTML license file. End users are shown this license when installing, and have to accept to continue.

In my experience, you have to manually reach out to Sales Engineering. Applying from the module showcase portal doesn’t seem to notify anyone (at least in an actionable way :man_shrugging:t2: )

That seems the most straightforward, anything else seems overcomplicated.
