Recently I was tasked with setting up a Dynics HMI using factorytalk. I noticed when booting up our HMI, it had "Vision Client Launcher" software which was trying to connect to an application but would fail. Never used ignition nor do I know where to go from here - how can I check if we have an existing license? The HMI came from our customer and they deal with the licensing.

Open the Vision Client Launcher. "Manage" the application that is attempting to start, and look at its URL. (I suspect http://localhost:8088
or similar.) Open a browser to point at that base address (just site and port) and see if you get a gateway web page. If you do, Ignition is there, but may not be licensed. If not, the vendor uninstalled but forgot to uninstall the launcher.
Okay - that makes a lot more sense. We tried to connect to the address and we were not receiving a connection. Thank you!
