I have 5 Ignition Edge Platform licenses installed and I need to know if I can install a PC locally to control the plant in case of communication failure.
The plants are in isolated but in case of failure I need to access the paln and control it manualli.
Edge Panel Edition allows two user interfaces. For Vision, one must be local. The other can be remote. If using Perspective, the two can be anywhere. (But be aware that sessions that cut off suddenly cannot be instantly re-established if already at the two-session limit.)
Generally, though, some form of central control would typically be done with a central, standard, gateway.
Edge IIOT or Edge Panel? IIOT does not offer the option of visualization. It's meant basically for forwarding data to a central ignition. Panel has local visualization options..
And as far as I understand, I need to purchase an Edge panel in each site if I want to control the plant locally in case of failure: Is there another option?
The reason of my question is that any plant is far from the city where the control is done and in case of failure, we need that local maintenance people can make some control tasks.
Believe Edge Sync became Edge IIoT. Can't remember for sure though just what it offered. Your sales person could tell you for sure. But yes, Edge Panel is likely where you need to end up if you want visualization.
Another benefit of upgrading to the latest version of 8.1; you will then get 35 days history and that 8-device limit that is mentioned will become unlimited. As you appear to have active support, basic care, you can also move to 8.3, should you wish.
