In 8.3, you'll be able to do so. Don't expect a first party scripting solution in 8.1.

Hey Paul, coming back to this as I’ve ran into a use case myself. I read through the release notes prior to asking, but is this feature included in the released versions of 8.3? The only thing I saw was maybe the REST API for the gateway configuration..
