Good evening, sorry I am still a new Ignition user. I plan to display the project I created from the designer launcher to a smartphone. Does it require SSL/TLS?
SSL is highly recommended if you plan route the traffic over the internet. (I would say required, but it is not enforced by the platform.)
But more importantly, what UI technology did you choose? If Vision, then SSL doesn't matter, as you cannot put Vision on a mobile device.
If Perspective, install the Perspective app from your phone's app store and point it at your gateway.
I am trying to access my project that is on my computer from the Ignition Perspective app on my smartphone. Is it necessary to add a CA-signed Security Certificate?
It is highly recommended if you are connecting through the public internet. But many of my clients use private Certificate Authorities, and add them to the device.
