[IGN-18414] system.opcua.addConnection - Description not showing

I've been investigating scripting the addition of new OPC servers.

I'm able to successfully call system.opcua.addConnection() to create the connection, however when I check OPC Connections page in the gateway, the Description field is always blank, no matter what I pass in as the second argument (description) to the method.

Is this a bug? I have only tested in 8.3.3 so far.

After declaring the OPC connection, do you successfully get any information from the OPC server ? Or the connection is dead(somewhere an error that avoids the gateway to take it into account)

No the connection is created just fine, and starts functioning straight away. Its just the description that is missing.

Here is an example gateway event script:

def handleMessage(payload):
	url = "opc.tcp://milo.digitalpetri.com:62541/milo"
	system.opcua.addConnection(
		"TestServer", "Here is the description that won't show", 
		url, url, 
		"None", "None", 
		{}
	)

which I call from the designer script console with:

system.util.sendMessage("TestProject", "createOpcConnection", {}, "G")

As you can see in the screenshot below, the TestServer connection is created and working just fine, but there is no description shown:

I think this is a bug, and that there are probably some other resources with a similar issue... it sounds familiar. I'll have to look and see if they're open or fixed already.

Righto no worries, cheers Kevin. A fairly minor issue in the scheme of things. Coming from other platforms, the fact that I can create a new connection this easily at runtime is just fantastic, so no complaints here!

(Also kudos for the public Milo server instance!)
