[IGN-2343, IGN-8727] "Unable to send updates to clients" error in logs

In case anyone is looking into this still, which I doubt. I had this issue today, found it about 15 hours after it started, nothing in the logs showed a cause. I terminated all the oldest perspective clients but didn’t help. I then restarted the perspective module and the error went away but was replaced by a new one that is for ‘Error publishing tag change event’ which is odd because the server in question doesn’t have any tag change scripts as all the tags used are on remote providers and it is just for running the perspective and vision sessions. In putting the event into trace I found it was on a system tag for the gateway/current date time, which makes sense since I was also getting addMinutes and addHours errors, which are for expression tag issues. My guess is there is a script that runs natively on Ignition that I can’t see that is causing the error. I tried restarting each module individually but they didn’t help at all. I ended up restarting the gateway and that solved the issue.

We actually are still actively tracking this issue. The active ticket (IGN-8727) claims this was resolved as part of the 8.3.0 release, with a potential backport to 8.1.X waiting for verification that the 8.3.0 fix did indeed resolve the issue.

Noted. if we see no further reports from 8.3 users, this will eventually get backported to 8.1. Since we’re watching for any 8.3 reports of this issue, several of us are subscribed to this thread; we’ll see what happens over the next few months.
