Ignition 7.7 on Windows server 2003

Hello,

I would love to use Ignition 7.7 on one of my customer’s servers, but I run into this issue:

“The procedure entry point QueryFullProcessImagesNameA could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.”

I am using Java 8 update 20

I already have it installed on another one of his machines, so I would prefer not to downgrade.

Thanks,

Mike

Java 8 isn’t supported on Windows 2003, which is why you’re seeing that error.

I’ve heard whispers around the interwebs that the binaries are still mostly compatible with XP and server 2003 but the installers aren’t, and that you can get some kind of frankenstein installation going, but that’s certainly not supported by us.

Your best bet is to stick with Ignition 7.6 or upgrade away from a legacy version of Windows.

It’s worth clarifying that we only require Java 8 for the gateway - clients still require only Java 6 and thus will run on much older versions of Windows.

What about designers?

You’ll want at least Java 7 for designers.

Cool.
Thanks guys!
