Ignition 8.1.52 to 8.3.9 Upgrade - Tags Moved to System

Hi,

I upgraded two gateways from Ignition 8.1.52 to 8.3.39, and both ended up with the same issue.

All OPC connections are working, and I can browse and read live PLC values normally.

However, the tags from the provider PRNT_FRONT_TAGS1 are no longer available in the Tag Browser.

While investigating, I found that the tags still exist on disk, but they are stored under C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition\data\config\resources\core\ignition\tag-definition\System instead of under the PRNT_FRONT_TAGS1 tag provider.

However, in the Designer, I cannot see these tags under the System tag provider either.

I also noticed that in C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition\logs\tag-migration there is no file called PRNT_FRONT_TAGS1-migration.json, while there is a migration file for the other tag providers.

Has anyone seen tags ending up under System after an 8.1.52 → 8.3.39 upgrade?

What is especially interesting is that the exact same behavior occurred on two different gateways that were upgraded independently.

Thanks.

If you haven't already, call support to tell them about this, give them your gateway backup(s). Sounds like it might be a reproducible bug.

Thank you.
I restored the backup from 8.1.52 that I have; however, it did not resolve the issue.
Let's see what happens.
