Ignition 8.1 Minor Version Upgrade Questions

While looking into performing an upgrade to an existing ignition gateway to a higher minor revision. 8.1.39 → 8.1.47

I feel like I’m struggling to find information on minor revision changes or if they will affect the existing gateway in a detrimental way that I don’t expect.

  1. Do minor revision upgrades like this have minimal changes to the software other than bug fixes and security changes etc? Excluding bigger changes on how the software operates
  2. Is there a resource I can access to view change logs or comparisons across versions?
  3. Would you simply just setup a test environment and backup the gateway then upgrade it in the environment and see what breaks and monitor issues. Maybe I’m just overthinking an upgrade and want to be very particular on things

Minor version updates usually do not cause any issues. When they do, you’ll see IA yank the version, patch it, and release a new version.

8.1.47 has been out since Feburary, so it would most likely safe to update; however, testing it before hand is always good practice.
