When creating a new AD Hybrid User source, There is no option to add users. I do get the create role option, just can not add users.
With the AD Hybrid User Source the users come from your Active Directory, and the roles are generated locally. So you will need to verify that your AD connection is setup properly.
We are not populating users on demand in the user source config, so we manually add the users. I was able to get a user added, but I went to add the 2nd one and the “Create User button is grayed out even though all the fields are populated.
The resolution was that the User Listing Base, User List Filter and User Search Filter needed to be enclosed in double quotes.
Hi @chris.windmeyer -
Did you have this problem with a fresh install of 8.3? Or did the problem occur after upgrade from a working 8.1 configuration?
This was a new/fresh install. I did manually copy the setting from a working 8.1 system though.
Were these settings enclosed in double quotes in 8.1 as well?
No they were not.
Then I would not expect you to have to enclose these settings in double quotes in 8.3 either.
How did you know to try that? What happens if you remove the double quotes and match the setting values exactly with what was in 8.1?
If I do not have the quotes when I go to add a user the ‘Create User’ button never enables. If I enclose the User Listing Base in double quotes the ‘Create User’ button enables as soon as I enter a username. For why I tried that, I saw a few other post mentioning that they had to enclose some strings in double quotes to allow the user list filter to work.
Ok, the reason why I ask is because you should not have to add double quotes to those settings and in fact there’s no guarantee that should even work into the future.
Which version are you testing against? I did some searching in our ticket tracking system and found that we fixed a very similar (if not identical) issue a couple weeks back that should be in the current RC release.
I am running 8.3.0-rc1 (b2025082609)
Interesting. I just downloaded this build from the IA public downloads page and set up a new AD / Internal Hybrid user source and I am able to add as many users as I want as long as the “List Users from Active Directory” setting is unchecked. I don’t have to add quotes to the settings you mentioned above.
What do all of your AD user source settings look like? Are you able to share a gateway backup with me so I can inspect it on my end? You can DM me the gwbk file if you want. Just be sure to change any sensitive values before sending to me…
